Vein Treatment Therapy

Spider veins and varicose veins are two separate vein problems that often occur with age. Spider veins are tiny veins that develop in clusters around the feet and legs and sometimes on the face and they are typically painless.

Leg veins can be unsightly and many people want to have them covered so that they can feel free to wear shorts and skirts without having these prominent veins show through. Those who have spider veins on the face want to get rid of them so that they do not detract from the appearance. Spider vein treatment can consist of laser therapy as well as saline injections. Laser spider veins treatment is recommended when spider veins are on the face.

Spider vein therapy does not involve spider vein removal; the veins are merely covered up so that they are not visible through the skin. This can be done with sclerotherapy, a process wherein scalloping is injected into the veins to make them less noticeable. This is also called a saline injection. There is no downtime for those who get spider vein therapy, although vein therapy usually takes more than one visit for the treatment to work and the spider veins to be less noticeable. Spider Veins

Varicose veins are large veins that tend to bulge out and are sometimes painful. They should not be confused with spider veins. Treatment of varicose veins on the legs will usually comprise of cosmetic surgery rather than injections as in the case of spider veins. Varicose veins do not respond well to the injection therapy that is used for spider veins.

The difference in the veins treatment depends on the type of veins that are being treated. In the case of the spider veins, which are not large or very deep veins, they can be treated with injections or laser treatment. In the case of the treatment of varicose veins, surgery is required, often to unknot the veins, which usually appear in the legs. Vein removal surgery is done in a hospital or clinic and there will be down time post surgery, whereas there is no downtime to spider vein therapy that can be done right in the office.

Most of the vein therapy that is done is performed with lasers and can be done in the office of a cosmetic surgeon. Those who are looking for vein removal can consult with a cosmetic surgeon as to which type of vein therapy will work best for their condition. In some cases, even smaller varicose veins treatment can be done with laser therapy right in the office. If you are looking for vein therapy in the Tampa area, the best place to get all of your questions answered and to explore all of your options is Marcadis Plastic Surgery.
